Hotel Hive: A Perfect Stay in Alwar

My Ratings

Hotel Ambiance: 4/5

Management: 3.5/5

Service: 3.5/5

Food: 2.5/5

Rooms: 4/5

Overall Rating: 4/5

Before I start sharing my experiences about the hotel, let me take you through the city quickly. Alwar in Rajasthan is known for its scenic beauty and landscapes. Though the place is not too popular among the tourists, especially the foreigners, it holds in itself a beauty of its own, bejeweled by rich Indian heritage and culture. Apart from this, the place is sugary sweet as it is known for its delicious milk cakes that you will find in every other shop. Unlike the symmetrical cut pieces of sweets that we usually see, large bricks of milk cakes are prominent in all the sweet shops. I am sure you now have a sweet enough reason to visit this place.

Now that you do have a reason, I don’t want you to get bogged down with the long list of hotels, which many of these travel websites and apps show with ratings that would confuse you. Some of these hotels are really good, but most of them are  near the central bus stand or the main market that’s overcrowded and noisy. Moving towards the main city is Malviya Nagar. This area has wider roads and well spaced houses and buildings. This is where you can find the Hotel Hive standing tall.

Hotel Booking

It’s suggested that you book a room in advance because all the rooms are mostly booked by the Delhi/NCR crowd especially on the weekends.  You can book a room online through their site or call up the hotel landline number. If you want to have the road side view, ask for the rooms on the front side.

They offer three tariffs (per night basis) of

  • INR 3500 (Inclusive of Buffet Breakfast)
  • INR 4500 (Inclusive of Buffet Breakfast & Dinner)
  • INR 5000 (Inclusive of Buffet Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Apart from this they also offer

– Wildlife and Heritage Tour for INR 2000, which includes a tour to Sariska, Siliserh Lake & Siliserh Fort.

– Half day city tour for INR 1100 includes Tour of City palace, Hope Circus & Local Market.

There’s nothing really exclusive about the market, which is just like any other city. Sariska Tiger Reserve and Siliserh Lake are worth the effort.

Rooms & the Hotel Ambiance

Rooms are clean and spacious with excellent view from the top floors. You will find big wooden closets and lock up in rooms. There’s complete privacy and least disturbing staff, readily available at your service on a call. The visitors to this hotel are mostly families.

The hotel ambiance gives a sense of positivity. The sitting area at the reception with soft music in the background is overwhelming. The hotel wouldn’t appeal you much till the time you enter the room and find peace and cleanliness. You can stay well connected with Wi-Fi facility in all the rooms.

There’s a parking area right next to the entrance—not a huge one, but surprisingly well-managed. It is good to see how the guards on duty, strategically manage and keep up such a parking space. Well-kept and calls for an applause.

Rooftop Swimming Pool

This is the most rejuvenating feature of this hotel—a roof top swimming pool. As I said, there’s no disturbance from the management and the visitors are really good; you can spend a good time in the swimming pool. Relax yourself by dipping into the pool for hours and spend some quality time with your family.

Well, there is an Irish proverb that says, “Laughter is brightest where food is best.” This is where the hotel is not at par. If I have to give the hotel management one feedback it would be to work on their menu, quality and taste of food or perhaps they just need a new chef. Food at Hive is below average. I ate there just for a single day and for the next day meal had to find another restaurant nearby. It was a disappointment.

All in all, it was a great stay at Hotel Hive, Alwar. It was much beyond my expectations and I really enjoyed my stay. Next time if I plan to go to Alwar, I am definitely going to stay at Hotel Hive and what about you?
